The male has a little curl upwards in his tail feather. The female has a flat tail feather.

If you're looking at the duck and aren't sure if the tail feather is curling or not, then it's a female. The upwards curl in males is obvious when you see it.

yeah, the tail curl is a good way to tell. i have two white pekin ducks---male and female. the male is about 25% bigger than the female.

also---an adult female will lay eggs. ducks are a lot like chickens. they'll lay eggs and try hatch them. white pekin ducks aren't good incubators though. my female will lay about 12-15 eggs and she'll sit on them for a week or two. then she pretty much loses interest and spends more and more time away from the nest. as a result the eggs chill or overheat and the ducklings die.

white pekins are such poor incubators that most are hatched with a manmade incubator. people who raise ducks will either gather the eggs from the female and put them into a manmade incubator or slip them under a duck of another species that is a better incubator. i've know some to slip duck eggs under a setting hen. she'll hatch the ducklings right along with her own brood. i knew a fellow once who slipped some duck eggs under a hen for her to incubate them. she did and she hatched a brood of 10 or so chicks and a couple of ducks. all went well till she took the brood down to the creek for a drink. the ducks hopped in the water and went crazy. the poor hen went running up and down the bank of the creek making a terrible fuss---she thought her 'babies' were going to drown! lol!

Techno is correct. Male ducks have a significant curl in their tail feather.

listen. Females QUACK - the males make a monotone lower sound. This works on adult ducks - little ones it's not accurate. But it's not a joke. You could vent sex them but listening you don't have to touch them.

nicely all i comprehend is this drakes have a raspy, whispering quack; at the same time as ladies are loud and sparkling. Drakes have a curled intercourse feather on their tail (that could't be with out problems considered at a distance, even however) that the ladies lack.
