Nostradamus enthusiasts have credited him with predicting numerous events in world history, from the Great Fire of London, via the rise of Napoleon and Adolf Hitler, to the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center.[9] In fact, though, Nostradamus does not mention any of these specifically. It is true that in a number of quatrains he mentions the name Hister (somewhat resembling Hitler), but this is merely the classical name for the Lower Danube, as he himself explains in his Presage for 1554. Similarly, the expression Pau, Nay, Loron — often interpreted as an anagram of "Napaulon Roy" — simply refers to three towns in southwestern France near his one-time home.

Skeptics of Nostradamus state that his reputation as a prophet is largely manufactured by modern-day supporters who fit his words to events that have either already occurred or are so imminent as to be inevitable, a process known as "retroactive clairvoyance." It has been stated that no Nostradamus quatrain has ever been interpreted as predicting a specific event before it occurred beyond a very general level.

Nostradamus quatrains are open to interpretation...he suppousedly used anagrams and wrote in metaphors..."so a big cloud of smoke in the sky in the year of the beast"...can be interpreted as 9/11 incident.....or whatever you want...it's all too ambigous to have precise meanings.
