On Yahoo Messenger: Click Messenger Menu -> Click Preferences. Go to General section of the Preferences Window and uncheck the Box saying When I start My Computer, Automatically start Yahoo Messenger!.
For AOL, go into General preferences in AIM and uncheck (disable) the Start AIM when Windows starts option.
This should do the trick.
Thanks,
Manish

Make sure you are on the "General" tab in Yahoo Messenger preferences. Uncheck the box that says Automatically start ... Then click "Apply" at the bottom. If that doesn't work, check out Yahoo's help pages for Yahoo Messenger, or upgrade Messenger. Good luck.

You can turn it off by doing it using the System Configuration Utility.
Click the start button and click in Run...
When the pop-up comes type msconfig and press return
the utility will load with many tabs, choose startup and look for yahoo
messenger, uncheck that and click OK then choose to restart or exit without restarting.

AOL purpose is complete of undercover agent ware that you may never get off your workstation with out formatting . Now in the previous any of you even thinks thats no longer real because i run undercover agent ware detection and elimination , in the beginning you allowed it to run on your workstation accordingly transforming into regulations to allow it . Secondly AOL has better money than god so thier code and payoffs on your so said as undercover agent ware elimination classes is humorous . Yahoo blows aims doors in inspite of all its complications . I wouldnt even goto any AOL web site no longer to coach installation some thing on my workstation . would as well promote your soul to the devil .
