The games sucked but alot of their ideas is being used in the NFL.. i.e the camera attached by a wire with the over head shot over the field.

The skimpy dressed cheerleaders were awesome.

I remember that the Xtreme Football League was a Big Huge Football Flop that was not popular on television. One of the reasons why I do not think that the XFL was popular is because they played their games in some cities in cold weather after January. Another reason was that the XFL played on the weekends and had to compete with other shows for attention. Finally, the XFL did not seem too popular when it first came out despite the fact teams were station in cities that do not even have an NFL team including Las Vegas, NV and Birmingham, AL.

The XFL was a decent idea, but no one will really compete in professional football in the US. The NFL is just too much of an institution. While the XFL was part sport/part show, there was one thing that I did like, and that was the opening sequence where a guy from each team raced to midfield and fought over the ball to determine who had possession first. That was awesome. Other than that, it was a throwaway league, just like the WFL, the USFL etc.

Hey sounds like an intresting idea BUT the XFL was co-owned by NBC. Try finding a network that would want to take part in the baseball league.

Padres announcer Matt Vasgersian who announced the XFL for NBC still mentions the messed up project once in a while on air.

Sadly, I do ... God help us if Vince tries another stab at a different athletic venue (remember his foray into the bodybuilding leagues with the WBF also?).

The XFL was a HUGE flop. But hey, we did get "He Hate Me" out of it.
