All things being relative, what is on the OTHER side of the moon depends upon WHERE the MOON is, no? ;)

So depending upon what point in the moon's orbit is being considered, most EVERYTHING in the UNIVERSE is *over there*—INCLUDING US, if a heat-impermeable COCKROACH happened to be standing on the SUN asking that question! ;)

But nah, that's speaking too literally: what's REALLY on the other side of the MOON is YOU—when you are HOPELESSLY in LOVE! ;)

Best wishes from a hopeless romantic. ;)

Well it's a strange thing about the other side of the moon, it's always on the other side. The cosmologists (I think that's who studies this) call the state of our moon "de-rotated". Our moon spins but at just the right speed to keep the same side away from us (insert alien conspiracy theory here). This state is not uncommon among single satellites orbiting a larger object.

As to whats on the other side, download NASA's WorldWind software, download their moon module and have a look. It looks pretty much the same as this side.

Lots and lots of craters, and very little in the way of maria, unlike the near side that we always see. By the way, the "other" side of the moon should always be called the far side, not the dark side, since it goes through phases just like the near side does!

A surface full of craters. When the Moon is on the other side of the Earth, though, the Earth protects it from any asteroids. So only the other side can be pelted with them.

That side is known as the far side of the moon. Here's a good picture of it. http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/ap981008.html
