wow. I mean, technically there is no blood relation...but this is the kind of situation that can really put a fam in a tail spin. This is gonna cause drama, people are gonna be crying scandal...and this can get real ugly. But after hearing all of that and your heart is pounding and you still can't stand the idea of parting ways with this person...buckle yourself down and prepare yourself, I hope you got some thick skin hun. I can sit here and judge you all I want, but I know life is crazy like that. Good luck.

If you really love you cousin that way, you need to find out exactly how you are related, or not. This is very important for more than just moral reason (although it is very morally icky). If you decide to have children at some point, the closeness of your DNA can cause birth defects, or mental retardation. That is not just a rumor. Look it up! If you are not blood relations, and it is legal for you to get married, then are you willing to give up all the family members that are against it? They should love the two of you through whatever, because no human being should judge another, but what if they want nothing to do with you ever. Are you willing to risk it? If you aren't really related, and you are willing to lose those family memebers, then go for it.

Even though your mom was adopted, you and your cousin were brought up believe that you were kin. So treat it like that and move on to another. It will only cause a riff in the family. There are other guys out there.

Family is family....you may not be blood which makes what you're doing legal, but how do you feel morally? Your gut instinct to come on here and ask probably means that you have reservations. I'd have to advise ending the relationship if you grew up together. Otherwise, you will permanently alienate your family who views you two as "relatives" whether you are genetically or not. Good luck either way.

This sounds like a bad way to go. Find someone else. Ask yourself this, if you did wind up in a relationship, how would it harm the rest of the family? Odds are it would split the family in two, and then not only would you and he not be together, but you would lose 1/2 of your family. Doesn't sound like the best idea to me.

Before you get all freaked out about it...Find out if you are really even related. Research your family history, have genetic testing done. If your mom is adopted and you are not really related, then you haven't done anything wrong.

This is not a healthy relationship for you to pursue.Even if your mom was adopted, this is who she considers to be her family. Therefore you should end relations with your "cousin".

You need to be certain if you're related to him or not. Ask a relative. Find out the real truth before your feelings get any deeper with this person.
If you are in fact not related, resume your love affair. Enjoy. It's a blessing to find love.

Thats a hell of a pickle there. I would look into your local laws first. If you arent blood relative, you might be ok, why does the family have a problem with it if there is no blood relation?

I don't think that you should do it for the simple fact that even if you find out that your not blood cousins the two of you were still RAISED as cousins. Doesn't that mean anything..

you don't know what for sure? either you are cousins are you aren't....and, although there are people who do indeed fall in love with and marry their cousins, the social and intra-family consequences may be hard to overcome...is this someone you truly love and want to spend the rest of your life with? how old are you? you may be too young to fully understand what love is....
