You could be the richest person in the world. Bill Gates, the richest person in the world, only has a high school diploma. He did go to college though, but dropped out because he was too bored with it. Just think of what this world needs, invent it, and make as much money off of it as you can. Never sell yourself short.

President of the United States. OK maybe not the best but certainly the high profile.

BTW, don't sell yourself short, a high school diploma is valuable piece of paper. Check the dropout rates and those that fail their exit exams.

If you can't, or don't want to go to college, let me offer a suggestion.

Look for something you like to do. When you find it, check out the career path to get to that job. Now take an entry level job on that career path.

One more thing, work your posterior off. You'll get there.

Seriously.
Go to college or a trade school and get specialized in something you enjoy.
Do you like playing video games? There is a huge demand for game designers. There are degrees available in that area.
Do you like working with children and want summers off? Become a teacher. There are grants available for education students.
Do you like playing with make-up? The film industry is an exciting place to work. Go to a beauty college and start building up your style and portfolio.

I would highly recommend joining the U.S. Navy as an Information Systems Technician (IT) as you will get awesome training and the potential to earn:

Basic Pay $1,748.10 a month (over 2 yrs service)

Subsistence Pay $272.26 a month

Area Incentive Pay (AIP) of up to $3,000 a month (depends on area)
Re-Enlistment Bonus (SRB) of up to $40,000
Cost Of Living Adjustment (COLA) of aprox. $1,100.00

Etc... Etc...

It is highly likely that you could be earning over $48,000 a year in just a little over 2 years of service with the prospects of high paying civilian jobs as soon as your enlistment is up. I truly think this opportunity is hard to find in the civilian sector right now with only a High School Diploma!

Also, potential for $52,000 of money for college as follows:

"The Montgomery G.I. Bill (MGIB): Take a small $100 reduction in your Navy pay for just 12 months and you will get back an education benefit of over $37,000. You may use this money toward college once you’ve completed active duty or even use part of it while you're still serving. Combine it with a Navy College Fund "Kicker" and get over $70,000 toward your education! You will be entitled to receive up to 36 months of educational benefits as a full-time student under this program. See your Navy Recruiter for details.

The Navy College Fund: Available to those who sign up for the MGIB. If you’re a high school graduate, score a 50 or better on the ASVAB, and qualify for certain Navy jobs or apprenticeships, you can get more than $15,000 in addition to the MGIB money for your education."

"Among the most important benefits are those for your health. As a Sailor, you receive:
Full medical coverage and care in Navy or civilian facilities
Full dental coverage and care from Navy professionals
Your other benefits upon joining the Navy include:
Discounted travel
30 days paid vacation each year
Generous educational benefits
$250,000 life insurance policy for $16 a month or a $400,000 life insurance policy for $26 a month"
