States I'm considering -
-Top of my list: TEXAS!!!!, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, -Tennessee, New Mexico
-Not on the list but willing to consider: the Carolinas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Utah, Colorado, South Dakota, Wyoming, Washington, Arizona
-I don't want to move to: the east coast north of Virginia Beach, Ohio, Florida, California
-Please consider the following: culture, weather, climate, natural beauty, cleanliness, jobs and economy, people, friendliness, hospitality, attractions, etc. Thanks!
-And seriously, my top pick is TX, preferably Galveston, Austin, San Antonio, or Fort Worth. I am willing to consider other cities, but Dallas County doesn't appeal to me very much (at least the cities proper of Dallas and Irving.)

BTW, Kentucky is OK, but several places there really suck, such as Louisville, Lawrenceburg, Frankfort, and (worst of all) Winchester. Eastern KY in general isn't too great. Murray, Cadiz, Mayfield are nice. There are better and worse places than KY.

If you must choose Texas, remember that for the most part it's HOT, HOT, HOT. As a Texan I would strongly recommend Austin or the surrounding areas. Best job opportunities, best culture, but be prepared for the traffic. Many of the roads in Austin are being constructed/reconstructed at this time.

Avoid the East Texas area at all costs, unless you like bigotry and humidity. I agree with your decision to avoid the DFW Metroplex ... it's become the very definition of urban sprawl, and crime is high.

Where are we moving to when we leave Texas in a year? Portland, Oregon. The Pacific Northwest is unparallelled for culture, climate, beauty, and economics. And, not to downgrade your state, but Kentucky was not a place we considered for relocation.

If you want materials to assist with a Texas relocation I can help you. Feel free to E-mail me.

I think you should stay in Kentucky. Kentucky is just one of the many places our people came to settle after the Revolutionary War, so Ky has a lot of rich history. Eastern Kentucky isnt' too bad, Hazard, Ky (Eastern) is a nice little place to vist. I love Ky, and if I could I would move there in an instant. But my job won't let me. So any way, my opinion, which probably isn't worth much I'd stay in Ky. (I'm a Kentuckian once removed)

You may want to visit other places before you move but if you're not happy there don't annoy everyone around you...research and if you still want to move do it. I love florida...I have lived in Miami my whole life and now that we have 3 little ones, we are headed to the orlando area...I've been to NY, NJ, Ohio, Tenn., KY, GA., North Carolina, and I say no way...I visit those places when I need a reminder of why I love Florida. See for yourself what makes you happy...I still advise you really visit the area first.

Go any place that suits your fancy. Only you know exactly what you want. Do the Internet search searching for things that matter to you the most. See this big beautiful country while you are still young then you will know where you want to settle down. I've lived in 7 states and in some of them different areas and loved them all.

I live in the Belfry area (eastern ky) and i love it. I mean I've lived here almost 14 years and my only complaint is I am stereotyped as being a hick. Other than that I think Kentucky is PERFECT!!!!

Get out of Kentucky as soon as you possibly can. I live in Ohio which is not the greatest place to live by any means, but I have no idea how anyone could stand living down there.

I live in Tennessee, but I think you should do this:

Pin a map on the wall, get a dart, close your eyes, and throw., open your eyes and see where it wants you to go.

Or just come here. It's beautiful here. Especially on a mountain like the one I live on............

Unless you like Mexico, stay out of Texas. You can't tell the difference these days.
