I have new neighbors, and almost every single night they keep me up with their noises...such as moans and groans, 'banging'. It really bugs me, but I don't know what to do to get some sleep. Any suggestions?

by banging I mean he is pushing into her and it causes their bed to bounce and bang against the wall.

Is your bed against the wall that joins their apartment? Id so, try moving your bed to a different wall. If not, go to them and tell them they are keeping you awake. You don't want to cause problems if you're stuck side by side for a year. If you talk to them and the problem still persists you might talk to your landlord.

Since they are new..why don't you bake some cookies or something for them and take it over to them and tell them "welcome to the neighborhood" . Chat about different things and then casually ask them if they can hear you because you KNOW the walls are very thin. If they do not catch what you are saying, say to them that at night you hear moans and groans and stuff to the point where it is keeping you awake at nite. Hopefully that will solve your problem because then they will be embarassed and will then try to keep it down. If not, try moving your bed to another wall and see if that helps. If these things still don't help then go to the apt mgr and then the police. But go to the police as a last resort.

I'm a day sleeper since I work midnights. The best thing I have found in 15 years of night shift is the regular every day box fan...10$ to $20 at your local retailer. If it's cool in your room then point it away from you, but turn it as high as you can....the low drone will help block out most noise. But if your neighbors are very loud then you have little choice. You will have to talk to them. I suggest talking to the person that is the same sex as you when opportunity presents itself. Try to be polite, maybe with a slight grin, and tell them your problem. This should bring about some change...if it doesn't, then you'll have to talk to your appartment manager.

Talk to your landlord and have him intervene. I once had a noisy neighbor that decided that "if I thought he was noisy before, he was going to show me what noise is!" He bumped and thumped all through the night. He stomped around on purpose after I told him that his late night furniture dragging (or whatever he was doing) was noticeable downstairs. He got my phone number and would call in the middle of the night.

People who have no respect for their neighbors' peace and quiet are usually not someone that you can confront. If the landlord can't solve the problem, definitely call the police. You'll want it on record in case they start with the 3:00 a.m. phone calls or some other such childish behavior.

I'd say something to them, politely, about being able to hear their activities during the night. Let them know it keeps you up at night and you cant get any rest.
If that doesnt take care of it, let the landlord know that they are disturbing you. If that doesnt do anything, call the cops. That will shut it down in a hurry.

I suggest that you inform your neighbors of the situation - telling them that due to your work schedule you are required to have a certain number of hours of sleep, but that you are unable to go to sleep due to their "nocturnal activities." I am sure that if you present your situation and word it correctly and polite that you neighbor will make attempts to lower the volume.

First be civil.

I feel for you, we are in the same predicament, except ours purposely backs his truck into the townhouse till he hits the home, mind you he doesn't pull away after he hits it. Calls to landlord have not been heeded. I mean what purpose is there? Damage to the property? The whole house shakes.

Have a friend over and make an even bigger noise when you think their awake and when their sleeping. They should get the picture, if not go tell them about themselves.

I'd bang on the wall and say "keep it down" or blare your stuff and annoy them. They'll figure out the walls are thin.

best way for a person to learn is maybe repeating what they've done... a girl could always invite a friend or b friend and make same loud noise as your neighbors...that way you also get to have fun
