Probably some kind of camera phone you can stick in your mouth and make a copy of your dental records. LOL. No really I dont know what else they could do because phones already have cameras, mp3 players, and the internet. Maybe it could be used as a GPS device or something (or are they already?)

I'm thinking the ability to access satellite radio stations like XM and Sirius. They (the satellite stations) really need something to boost their popularity and what better than to be able to have such a broad market? If they can crack the cell phone market, they are guaranteed that they will survive. And I think a lot of people will likely want to pay a little extra to have the capability to access their radio stations wherever they have cellular access. I can't see it being too hard to do, although the licensing will most likely be the sticking point.
And possibly increasing the whole GPS capability of cellphones using the whole idea of iMode in Japan and mMode in USA so that it becomes more of a necessity to be able to access information on the current movie listings and showtimes, to which friends are currently closest to you, to finding the next restaurant when you're travelling on the freeways.
And, there's always the whole idea of accessing your network or computer from the phone.

According to all the big thinkers at this years expos the new phones wont be trying to do new technology. They are now more concerned with content. The big TV channels in the UK are all providing free contnet for things like new tv shows, football and news. So look out for TV on your mobile and more PDA style content such as accessing full Web pages and email easily. Also UK street map are now offereing their service on o2 for free so more of that too

WiMAX will be the new mobile standard in the next 5 years. Cingular is going to release widespread UMTS/HSPDA data services within the next year. It will be up to 5x faster than the current CDMA EV-DO networks.
