We don't use the metric system! When we do use the metric system I believe we use the one the rest of the world uses.

Remember, we're not the only ones that don't use the metric system. Neither does Great Britain.

One more thing, it's spelled 'retarded' not 'retarted'.

First, the US doesn't use a Metric system of any kind;...as far as I know. So how can we be using a different Metric system then the rest of the planet? If I recall there is the Metric system and the English (or base 10) system. We use the latter. Perhaps you are referring to what has been termed the Modern Metric System. But then again, we don't use that either. You might want to identify the Metric system you claim we in the United States are using. Perhaps you actually meant to ask why the US uses a different measurement system (the English system) then the rest of the world. If you would clarify or rephrase your question I can give you a proper answer.

The rest of the world doesn't use our system. Do you have a problem with that?

Frankly, I don't really care.

We use the English system. The reason because we are non-conformists. If you want to be a sheep go ahead, but leave us alone.
