States I'm considering -
Top of my list: TEXAS!!!!, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, New Mexico
Not on the list but willing to consider: the Carolinas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Utah, Colorado, South Dakota, Wyoming, Washington, Arizona

I don't want to move to: the east coast north of Virginia Beach, Ohio, Florida, California

Please consider the following: culture, weather, climate, natural beauty, cleanliness, jobs and economy, people, friendliness, hospitality, attractions, etc. Thanks!

And seriously, my top pick is Texas, preferably Galveston, Austin, San Antonio, or Fort Worth. I am willing to consider Houston, Hill Country, Tyler, Denton, Amarillo, Lubbock, and Corpus Christi. Dallas County doesn't appeal to me very much (at least the cities proper of Dallas and Irving.)

BTW, Kentucky is OK, but several places there really suck, such as Louisville, Lawrenceburg, Frankfort, and (worst of all) Winchester. Eastern KY in general isn't that great, either. There are better and worse places than here.

I have lived in Kentucky most of my life, I moved to Ohio and then now live in Tennessee. My next move is planned to Colorado. I know that they have a variety of climates, which appeals to me, and that there are many small towns as well as bigger cities. That's about all the help I can be, I suppose. Best wishes

OK I live in South Carolina now and wouldn't recommend it not that it is a bad state its just not great you hear the southern hospitality well my *** I was raised in Powell Wyoming and if I had the chance that's where I would be now but now I have a child and a husband and not the financial freedom to go back but I will retire there I promise you that..... The people are so down to earth and friendly and the towns are great everyone knows everyone and they help each other too here in the south its everyone for themselves even natural disasters cannot bring a community together because you have people that just take advantage of the goodness of others

If you must choose Texas, remember that for the most part it's HOT, HOT, HOT. As a Texan I would strongly recommend Austin or the surrounding areas. Best job opportunities, best culture, but be prepared for the traffic. Many of the roads in Austin are being constructed/reconstructed at this time. Avoid the East Texas area at all costs, unless you like bigotry and humidity. I agree with your decision to avoid the DFW Metroplex ... it's become the very definition of urban sprawl, and crime is high. Where are we moving to when we leave Texas in a year? Portland, Oregon. The Pacific Northwest is unparallelled for culture, climate, beauty, and economics. And, not to downgrade your state, but Kentucky was not a place we considered for relocation. If you want materials to assist with a Texas relocation I can help you. Feel free to E-mail me.

Texas all the way, Houston, San Antonio, Galveston and Austin are really nice and clean, besides you cant beat that southern hospitality. By the way we are not all cattle and ranch houses, people always have the wrong idea of what its like over here. Everything is bigger, and better in Texas! Besides the weather is nice, there is plenty of culture of all kinds,we have a great economy, and plenty of attractions, especially in Houston, and San Antonio.

Move to Austin, Texas...It's on the edge of the beautiful Hill Country, 45 min. from San Antonio, 3 hours from Houston, about 2 or so hours from Dallas, and about 4 hours to the beach. Not to mention there are lakes, it's "The music capital of the world" and 6th street rocks!

If Texas is at the top of your list, go for it!!! All I ask is for you to stay on Answers, we will miss you.
I like Kentucky and people that live there. I'm just over the bridge in Evansville, IN. To me Kentucky has natural beauty, I love driving through the old country roads. But, that is only my opinion.
Good Luck on your move!

I'm from Kentucky and I've lived in of course Kentucky, then Florida, a while in Texas, then Virginia and finally the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. If I could afford to move, it would be back to Kentucky.
