What a stupid question! It's ALWAYS wrong to lie!
Delayed obedience is still disobedience.

Yes it is wrong to lie about your age. I on the other hand people think I look younger but you should never lie about your age. You should feel proud and trust me you will get the age 17 soon it doesn't take that long. Do you mean to get somebody phone number? is that what you are asking. If it was to get a phone number and then you decided to tell the truth. The person wouldn't want to talk to you again so I hope you learn your lesson

Everyone so far has told you its wrong to lie. Now I will tell you why its wrong to lie about your age in particular.
Even though there is only a three year differnace, it is a huge differance in terms of emotional, physical and mental devolpment.
In the instance of boy-girl relationships, three years makes a huge differnace. Most 14 year olds are just discovering hand holding and kisses, while 17 year olds are begining to become sexualy active, and are better prepared to handle the pressures and responsibilties of it. Telling someone you are 17 when you are not may make them believe that you are capable of handling certain situations that you are not ready for. You may think you can handle it, but once actually in such a situation you may feel differnetly and not know what to do.
In other situations as well there are consequences of assuming another age. There are also many laws in referance to age that you may inadvertantly cause someone else to break, and get them into trouble.
Bottem line is that you could get yourself into trouble that you dont know how to get out of, and could become a victem of sad circumstance.

Lying is lying no matter how you put it, but I am not condemning you for it as I lied about my age when I was 14 (back when dinosaurs still roamed the Earth) to get a job as you had to be 16 back then (1971). The only problem is that if you are caught in the lie, or tell them you lied later, you are not likely to be trusted by whoever it was you lied to. It is an ethical question, and a good one too, because where do you draw the line, as little and big lies, etc.

A lie is a lie. Lying to get something is just as bad as stealing. A world of sh*t can come down just by one little fib. Even if it is about your age. For example: A 17 year old sleeps with an 18 year old two days before her birthday, gives her the power to charge statutory rape if he hurt her feelings or something. Childish but it happens everyday! It is wrong. Case in point!

I think you already know the answer. Telling the truth later is harder than telling the truth now. You need to also know that being 14 is a wonderful age. Be proud of being 14, of being who you are right now. Work hard to learn all the worthwhile things you'll need to know to be a savvy 17. You'll be 17 before you know it. Sorry if I sound like your grandma.

hahaha! Yeah it is. I'm assuming a 14 year old would be in 8th grade and a 17 year old would be a Junior in high school. So yeah that's probably not a good thing to lie about. I would be pissed if I found out I was dating an 8th grader. I'd probably feel like a freaking pervert too.

It isn't only dishonest, but it's potentially setting up the guy who's number you're trying to get for some serious trouble.

It's wrong to lead a guy on into thinking you're 17, which is the legal age of consent for sexual relations in some parts of the country -- because it could very well mean criminal prosecution for him, especially in these days of extra sensitivity to the issue of child molestation and sexual misconduct.

The guy could end up in jail, with a criminal record, or on a registry list for sex offenders even though he never intended to "do it" with a 14-year-old.

Lying about her age would be morally reprehensible for a girl in this situation.

Yes, it is. It's also immoral. Honesty is the best policy, and it often involves telling the truth. To tell the truth later, would get you a little forgiveness, but it would also get you resented, and cause you to lose a friend. Or if it's a parent or guardian you lied to, it migth get you spanked.

Yes it is always wrong to lie about your age, espeically when you are so young. You can get yourself into trouble that way. Haven't you seen "To Catch a Predator"??? That doesn't just happen online, there are sick people out in the real world every day that you interact with too.
