"I could care less about it"?

Though I appreciate your honesty-- it's "I COULDN'T CARE LESS"! Doesn't that make more sense??? Did you ever wonder why you were expressing how little you cared about something by saying you could care even less about it???

Care less about what? I could care less is one way of saying it. It's often, I don't care. Although many many years ago, it was I don't give a damb.

I hear that all the time and it grates on my ears (or eyes if I am reading). If you COULD care less than it doesn't make sense.

That phrase drives me crazy!!! It makes no da** sense. "I COULDN'T care less" is the only way to go for true apathy, lol.
