I think this requires a great deal more than just changing someones beliefs. You have to get them to see that what you are saying is in thier best interest, and not just a selfish change that you want them to make to meet your personal need. But, on a root level I do agree you do have to get them to believe they need to change.

You cannot change someones beliefs. If you and your spouse have different beliefs it does not make one of you right or wrong. You are two different people your differences are your strength if you work the in a positive way. If not you can make them a wedge that will eventually pry your relationship apart. How important is this to you? That is what you must ask yourself.

You can't force someone to change their beliefs, especially if they are life-long. If their actions are bothering you, communication is essential if you want your marriage to survive. Tell them that you don't think what they are doing is right or fair. Be kind about it, no yelling or screaming. If you think that their beliefs are wrong, engage them in a friendly discussion in order to reason with them. If you can prove in a nice manner that your beliefs are true, then maybe they will consider changing their mind. But if they truly love you, they will not do anything to annoy or harm you.

You can't change your spouses actions, only your spouse can change if he/she wants to. The only thing that you can do is bring their actions to your spouse's attention and ask them to change. You should consider counseling, for your spouse or for both of you - it will help your spouse and your marriage.

I think if they want to change then they will. You can't really force anyone to do anything. If you want to influence his beliefs, that's another story. Show him by your own actions: how you approach life.

from my own experience
silly beliefs like religion get in the way of true understanding. my teacher was being a bytch and it was obvious she wasnt getting any, then shed get into christian mode and preach like her **** didnt stink, which she without a doubt lies to herself since she has a kid, and all us experienced know that if she has a kid, her doing anal is a potent possibility. so the more i heard her bytch, the more i thought this lil ho needs a good fuccing. after several times of plunging her holes, sucking her toes n giving service w/ a smile, i hear about how her husband is a fhag now, her son gets tease cuz word spread i banged his mom, and this bytch still going to church and acting like shyt didnt happen

so yes, fuccn spouse needs to get their head straight
