My husband recently began thinking about getting circumcised. Oddly enough i've never been with a circumcised man and didn't really know how to respond when he told me he was thinking about having it done? Is it really any different at all? Has anyone been in a similar situation? Well any answers/advice would help really.

I would wonder why he would want to become circumcised. Circumcision is practiced more for cultural and religious reasons, then for any other reason. Perhaps your husband heard or read something that raised his anxiety about not being circumcised that prompted him to consider it. You might want to ask about it, as there are many myths about the benefits and dangers of not being circumcised, and then get some good medical advice. Without a medical reason for a circumcision, I don't know of any reason to do it. There are many nerve endings in the penis that contribute to the sexual experience, and a circumcision may impair their functioning. As someone pointed out earlier, he can't glue his foreskin back on later. Cleanliness is often cited as a reason, though I would think that as an adult, he would have established a cleansing routine by this time that's second nature. The only other thing I can think of is related to his self-esteem. Perhaps for some reason, he feels physically unappealling and can't accept himself as he is aesthetically. One might wonder about why his sudden concern about his appearance. In this case, perhaps lots of spousal support and/or a good psychologist, would be helpful. Finally, although a circumcision is a personal decision, it would be done within the context of your marriage. It would be helpful for him and you to discuss the reasons and risks of having it as a couple. After all, it will affect both of you. I hope this helps. Good luck!

Well of course those things are usually done when they are babies and i dont know how safe it is for a adult to do it but I have heard that sleeping with a man that is not circumcised can cause infections and lead to cancers. And, as to the way it feels i dont believe you will feel any differences. I think he will have a more pleasurable experience. What is his concern? Why now?

You are never too old to be circumsized, he may want to homework it a lot. I hadd my son done at 12 days, and they don't feel much pain, but a man might feel the pain. I've been with both...circumsized and not...its no different for you. The only thing that oyu will notice is that it looks different

As far as the woman is concerned it does not matter in the least. The man will be less sensitive during sex after being circumcised which could be good for the woman.

I suppose you meant sex? I don't think the circumcision itself will make any serious difference for you.

I'd better watch out for what made him think of performing this painful and senseless ritual. Is he going to convert to Islam or Judaism? What do you think of that conversion? Do you want to be with a follower of such a religion? _That_ is very serious.

My husband got circumcized about 8 years into our marriage. It won't really feel any different to you. It will certainly look different though. Also, currently the head of his penis is protected by the foreskin. It will lose some of it's sensitivity once it is always exposed.

The 12th century physician and rabbi Moses Maimonides advocated male circumcision for its ability to curb a man's sexual appetite [17]. Further, he implied that it could also affect a woman's sexuality, indicating that once a woman had taken a lover who was not circumcised, it was very hard for her to give him up.

Comparisons of experiences with circumcised or intact males are shown in tables 2 and 3. With their circumcised partners, women were more likely not to have a vaginal orgasm (4.62, 3.69-5.80). Conversely, women were more likely to have a vaginal orgasm with an unaltered partner. Their circumcised partners were more likely to have premature ejaculation (1.82, 1.45-2.27). Women were also more likely to state that they had had vaginal discomfort with a circumcised partner either often (19.89, 5.98-66.22) or occasionally (7.00, 3.83-12.79) as opposed to rarely or never. More women reported that they never achieved orgasm with circumcised partners (2.25, 1.13-4.50) than with their unaltered partners. Also, they were more likely to report never having had a multiple orgasm with their circumcised partners (2.25, 1.13-4.50). They were also more likely to report never having had a multiple orgasm with their circumcised partners (2.22, 1.36-3.63). They were also more likely to report that vaginal secretions lessened as coitus progressed with their circumcised partners (16.75, 6.88-40.77).

i would advise him NOT to have it done. It does reduce HIS pleasure for sure when it is done- and for me- i think it diminishes your pleasure too! plus, he will be out of commision for weeks once hes had it done. Id say God put it there- leave it there!
