Did you take it and why? I don't have any family history of birth defects does that matter?

Absolutely! I took it, and although it could have a false positive, rarely does it have a false negative. It doesn't matter if you have a family history or defects or not, most just happen spontaneously.

It is a great test however it can be inaccurate.I have had it taken for all three of my children. My second pregnancy there were some concerns about spinal bifida, due to to AFP test results. However the doctors were able to rule it out and my baby was fine.I would take the test, however keep in mind that it is a "screening".Even if you have no birth defects that run in the family, this test is further security for you.Good Luck and Congrats on the lil' one!!!!

I took it. I just wanted to know if my baby was ok. If not then I wanted to be prepared for it. But don't worry just take it. It would make you feel better. In my family there are no birth defects or any genetic disorders.
