Only if you really love doing it and would be happy singing even without making a whole lot of money. There are LOTS of people out there that can sing well. It is a scummy industry, with all kinds of dishonest, slick talkers who have no problem taking advantage of someone with dreams of making it big. Quite often the amount of someones musical talent has absolutely no relationship with how successful they are at making a career of it (look at Brittany Spears!)

I would try it as a second job for awhile and see how it goes before committing to it entirely.

As good as you may be, I would have to say; don't bother. The music industry today is focused on age and looks, not actual vocal talent. You could be a vocal god, and they will diss you, because you're too old to be "marketable" or you don't fit the physical profile. Sing for your own enjoyment. Do your albums and release them yourself online. Avoid the music industry. It is filled with thieves, liars and talentless hacks, interested only in how they can shape the next marketing trend and stuff it down the throats of the listening public (kids).
