Have you thought taking a lower position in the industry that you want and then working your way up from there once you're on the inside? A LOT of industries are structured that way. For example, game development. Almost nobody starts at the top or even as a team leader, you pay your dues with the lower level gigs like QA and learn the company culture, make contacts, and head up from there once the company sees your strong work ethic and imagination.

Finding a job is not the easist thing at times but then it can be, the best advise i can give you is to go for any job even if you would not see yourself working there like a fast food joint even though they seem crappy they may have a lot to offer. Don't set your standards high for trying to get the best job that pays alot b/c then you set yourself for dissapointment b/c they have so many people comming in and out wanting a job and they may only have one spot open. Even if you think that a job is horrible it may actually work out for you and help you get a better job in the future. The best way to get out of the funk is the next time you go in for an interview is to show them your smile and by that i mean show them that you can and are willing to work hard and do anything that needs to be done, make yourself sound really good. After that treat yourself to a treat of some sort that will make you happy no matter what it is. Good luck with your job hunting!!

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. I'm kind of going through the same thing right now. I don't know if I can be of any help, but I can relate to all the dead end interviews. I feel I have a lot to offer also, and wish someone could just give me a chance. All I can say is be patient and wait for that right job to come along.

I understand your funk.
You say you have a lot to offer, make sure that's on your resume.
Do what you like to do, that is marketable whether you get paid or not.
Be a little creative and reach toward those dream jobs rather than just what is available in ads, such as if you have talents or non work related skills.
Its ok to unfocus for a couple days and let the Universe do its work. Times are hard these days but You Will overcome.

First of all stpo thinking about your problem it only makes it worse instead start thinking about the answers. Go to Monster.com or career builder post a resume you'll get responses from people interested in you. Find something you like to do, sales, music, cars whatever it is and try to get a job in that working with that subject. If all else fails go to a temp. agency there is work out there and sometimes you just have to do what you got to do. I hate temp services but at least your starting somewhere and bringing a little more money than no money in. good luck .... The best thing you could do also is to pray ask god to help you and he will.

I understand.. I am in a funk- at my current job.. so my funk may not be as desperate as yours.. but I would consider opening your options up. What is it you are trying to do? Are there other related fields you could apply for?
The whole thing about the job market- it can make you mood or break it.. no offers makes u feel so useless.. but u know your NOT..
Re-access what you have been trying for (what type of job) and see if there are other fits.. or entry level positions in a totally different field..
It will happen!!

Hey, I'm in the same boat right now.....stuck and looking for a job. I know it feels like its over and none of these jobs will never call you, but you cant give up. Just apply to every place you can think of ...especially those in which you have experience, and something will come up! :) KEEP YOUR HEAD UP!!!

I had a friend - exceptionally talented and very smart, who had to search for over 8 months till a company hired her. She just kept plugging away at it. Put the search in a different perspective...it's not that companies aren't interested in you...it's that you're being selective with your career choices. If the thought can get in your head that it's YOUR decision...not theirs - you'll feel empowered. Good luck to you!

Persistance is the key. Keep handing out resumes and follow up with them. Always call to check the status of your application it lets them know you are still interested. Keep looking.

Yeah that would be very frustering. Connections are always good, if you know anyone who could get you into a place you are interested in. Constantly try to get interviews and just do your best.
