I nominate Yakov Smirnoff, an American citizen since July 4, 1986. He came to the USA from the Soviet Union with his parents in 1977, with less than $100 in his pockets, and just his talents, drive, and persistence. He is a family man, comedian, actor, philosopher, writer, and artist. He has his own comedy theater in Branson, MO, where he has worked since 1992. Twice, he has been named Branson's Comedian of the Year. He has five videos and CD's out, as well as two books. He donates time and money to worthy causes such as Habitat for Humanity, PBS, and others. In 2002, he painted, and paid to have installed, the huge commerative mural that hung near Ground Zero for almost a year after 9/11. To my mind, he embodies all that is best about America and Americans.

I don't think of the president as a celebrity. There isn't a celebrity that can represent America. Most of them complain about everything in America.

Bill O Reilly. Fat, arrogant, bully, ignorant far rightist pig..jussst what America has become. Sorry but I do love the idea of America..just that the current version is pretty messed up. However hope springs eternal and I hope that one day Bill will slip in the loo and die..

I don't think a person (Beyonce) that does ads for Walmart can represent America, considering Walmart is a large part of the reason that we can't even keep jobs in this country.

Probably Jessica Simpson...I think she is an example of how well we know the world around us... Meaning..I think most Americans know and care more about what's going on in Hollywood than..we do the world around us. Sad but true..
