I adopted a 3 month black lab pit bull mix a month ago. She is the sweetest dog, and is very quiet despite the neighbors loud dogs barking all day. She is a joy and there were lots of really good dogs at the shelter just waiting for homes!!Besides, adopting from a shelter is to save a dog with a tougher chance of finding a home!!!

Yes we have had 3 pupies/dogs over a 20 yr period...the best dog our family ever had came from the Bloomington, IN shelter...I think these animals realize on some level that you saved their life's so they respect your generosity and pay you back with love and protections and companionship. You should always check out the shelters first before buying a dog most of the times it is the people that buy dogs that get into much dog and not enough time/$ to take care of the aniamals they are good pets 95% of time

My wife and I adopted a dalmatian from a shelter about 5 years ago. She was a great dog. We had her for about 3 years. When we moved into our new home, something made her very sick, and she died. However, our other dog was fine. We later bought a dalatian puppy. When he was about 7 months old, he got sick just like the first dalmatian and died as well. But all other breeds or muts have been fine. It's kind of wierd.

All three of our cats: Stonewall (3), Pumpkin (7), and Gnocchi (1 and a half) (and yes I know, they're goofy names). I really wish more people would adopt from shelters -- especially kill shelters, since they have the animals that, of course, will be euthanized if not taken in by someone else.

one of my dogs I got at the north shore animal shelter on Long island. no behavioral problems, other than wanting to get out and run around the street.. when i lived in my old town, i lived across the street from the school where i went, i was about 10 or 12 at the time, and she used to get out during recess, and chase all the kids around the schoolyard. and i would get reprimanded for trying to chase down a "dangerous animal"

heh, i had to tell the principle that she was my dog, and only had to clean the lunchroom with a sponge. but that was because i popped a mustard packet, and it got all over the wall...

fun times.

Yup, just got two kittens a couple weeks ago. Their names are Pork and Beans. It was a lot cheaper than getting a free kitten and paying a vet to have them fixed, because they got fixed at the shelter.
