An exchange student is someone who leaves their country to attend school another country. It can be done in high school and college. the exchange can happen for a semster or an entirre year, it depends on the student. Unlike the name implies, there does not have to be an exchange in students just an exchange in countries.

A student from another country,residing within your home,to learn in this country....also,there was a time I believe,when a complete exchange occured,a student here,exchanged into another students home(in the chosen country) and swapped parents so to say....

it's a student thats is either switching from the middle of the year or maybe one student that comes from another country and is going a aborad like you can be an exchange student for one semester or something like that
