Well, it depends on what you like
Harry Potter is actually kind of addicting no matter how old you are.
Memoirs of a Geisha is facinating!
The DaVinci code and Angels and Demons are great reads if you like puzzles and controversy. I liked them for the puzzles and the twists.
Patricia Cornwall's Scarpetta books are great, especially if you are the kind of person that likes to watch CSI, but her endings seem to come really fast, all of this build up and then WHAM here is the answer end of story.
I LOVE Dean Koontz - Right now he has the 2 parts of a trilogy about Frankenstien out that are fantastic! or try one of his older books like Whispers and Lightning, or Watchers... or actually anything he has ever written. He has a way of hooking you into the story, and I know I cant put it down until I find out what happens next

The Door to December...I believe I read that book straight through...I will warn you it's got some pretty messed up themes in it but you can't get more suspenseful than that.
Plus you can always count on Dean Koontz for some suspense.
