Having run away from home 13 times myself, I feel that I know something about this problem.
The younger you are, the harder it will be to know what to do. If you are a minor, you'll have to avoid attracting the attention of truant officers, policemen, and more importantly, pimps. Fortunately nowadays there are a lot of shelters you can go to, but if they think you're a runaway, they'll have to notify the cops. You can spend a lot of time in public libraries or in shopping malls without attracting attention, but you'll have to find a source of income. Panhandling (begging strangers for money) is easier for females, but jobs are more reliable. You can get hired as a dishwasher in a restaurant (or as a waittress) almost anywhere. You'll need to have at least a small stash of clean clothing (you can clean up in public buildings, like libraries). Good luck to you!

Running away will hurt your family and your friends and put you in a risky situation. How long it will be before you are caught depends on how well you plan it. As for where you could go without anything... Ask the street people... some of them got there by running away.

Please don't do it.I have ran away a lot as a teen, only to realize as bad as my home was, it was my home.If you feel like you want to leave home, talk to a counselor at school or use your computer to find resources available to you. Just Please dont run away. It's hard out on the streets with no job or money.Friends will let you stay with them only a short while before u have to leave. There are a lot of people that prey on runaways.Life will get better.Get an education which will earn you money and a better life.I wish someone would have told me what I am telling you now.Be wise!Good Luck

Running away is a natural feeling. Sometimes it helps. My girlfriend ran away for a month with nothing except me and my car. She stayed at one of my friend's apartments. It was a blast. It was only to the next town 20 miles away, but it helped. It wont last forever though, so do what you gotta do, then get the hell back home before you get killed or raped.

Don't run away unless you are in danger, then contact a family shelter, call family social services or just go to someone you trust (family member, a teacher) and ask for help. Don't run away - you get into some terrible and life threatening situations out there.

I'm wondering how old you are. As others have said, if you feel you need to run away from an abusive situation, please talk to someone--a school counselor, an 800 help number, a religious organization, etc. If you just want to run away because your parents don't let you do everything you want to do, please reconsider. You could easily hide in a big city, but there are people just waiting for you. They'll use you, force you to sell your body--running away is going to cause bigger problems than whatever it is you want to run away from.

It's probably different in Canada, but if you're caught, they will probably black bag you, take you to a military induction camp, and after you're trained, they'll ship you off to Afghanistan

well, if you don't have anything, chances are you would be caught right away, being that you can't get far with no money, etc. I think you watch too much TV.
