..........save a little child's life if they were running across the road and this child was another colour to them. Isn't it human instinct to protect the vulnerable. Would the racist go against his instinct?

You are trying to define the word "racist" by this one incident. A racist is someone who hates another person because of their race. Using a young child is not very clever but makes a strong vision in your mind. Who knows what any individual would do? All racists do not think the same despite their prejudices.

Dont ask such questions - some people will react in an unpleasant way and may fan the fire of racism more - instead launch a campaign to teach parents never to let any child ever be in danger because of their carelessness and this has to apply to every parent across the board regardless of petty things like race, region, or nationality. We are all earthmen or women and the narrow domestic walls built by irrational leaders will take a long time to break down - but eventually will be broken down - and the innocence of a child will attract people of all races to him and he or she will not be left alone to be hit by a vehicle because human instinct will override negative emotions I am sure.

U know something, I don't think racism is an instinct. I think it's a learned opinion, and even if it's very deep rooted and you'd wish a person of a particular ethnicity dead, it's only when you cognitively process it. In this sort of event you wouldn't have time to think and so you would react on human impulse, which is to save the children. So yeah, I think they would save the child and realise later... Perhaps to their dismay, but probably not. It's very hard to wish a child dead when you're looking right at it, no matter what race. We're pre-programmed to love and protect them, ours or not.

I think all women would probably instinctively protect a small child but I'm just guessing.

many racists have rationalize the dehumanization of people of a different color. The moment a person can see the humanity of a person they must see them as valuable. However in your situation a racist may think no different in running over a turtle as a human being.

It depends on the racist. If the person hates that race so much that he will let a child die because of the color of their skin, but some racist are not so racist that they would let the child die. It depends on the racists, and the person.
