Astronauts are not allowed to burp in space because of the cramped quarters. For psychological reasons related to temperament, if an astronaut burps in space, it usually means he has contraband on board (doritos, cheetos, or a polish sausage) This will make his team members, who have to eat mushy stuff, very irate and provoke a fight. Because NASA wants their equipment back undamaged, risking a fight among crew members is unacceptable. Therefore the astronauts have to sign an agreement that they will not burp. If they do, they are kicked out of the space program upon return to earth.

Yes, in fact it's easier there. the external pressure is less in the space ship than it is here on Earth. Personally I wouldn't worry about the burps, it's the OTHER gas in a space suit that just HAS to make your day.

They should since you burp when you have air trapped in your stomach. If they are without air they can't burp but then they've got a lot more than that to worry about.

I would think it would be easier to burp in space because there is a vacuum, pulling the gas out of you to be used in other ways.

Depends what you had to eat. I'd think you could. Biological functions aren't impaired out there yanno. If anything, being an escaping gas in a zero g environment you may come up with a few worth making a recording of.

They can burp if they have eaten anything that causes gas in their stomach. They can fart too, lotsa fun in a space suit. But more importantly, can they hurl, you'd think there'd be a whole lot of that goin on

Remember the movie "Apollo 13"? they peed and it went outside the side of the capsule? if they can still pee and drink Tang then they can burp.
Also, they still breathe, talk, get their heart rates up, sweat, go through anxiety attacks... so yes. burping is there too...

Right. They can burp if they're wearing the suit (or in the shuttle, or anywhere else there's breathable air).
If they're floating in the void of space, they're dead. (And dead astronauts can't burp anywhere.)

burping is just your body's way of releasing gas trapped in your stomach so i don't see why they wouldn't be able to, unless gravity is somehow involved in burping
