Depends on your grade level you will be assisting. College, quite possibly.

A large number of my family are teachers, and they all suggest the same things. Be comfortable speaking in front of groups, be comfortable with people disagreeing with you(and not just students, but also and more likely the parents!) and have some form of organization. And patience. Lots and lots of patience. It might be worthwhile to invest in public speaking classes, classes in research methods, and an anger management/relaxation techniques class or a confrontation class. Since you already have a degree in fine arts, you should already have been exposed to the situations you will be facing(only this time from the outside!).

As just an assistant, however, and not the main teacher, this IS your training. Relax, enjoy it, and do your best to learn as much as you can while doing your best to teach those that care.

One of the best teachers I ever knew had no training other than a bachelors in Spanish.

I don't think so, although an interest in children and an ability to draw or have some artistic talent might help. It is great that you are interested in this career, but a degree in fine art probably won't help teenagers complete their art coursework, unless it is writing an assignment in fine art as part of an art history course. Good luck though

Depends a lot on the school. There's not a rule that says you NEED prior training, but if hiring officials have to decide between someone who has training and someone who does not, they'll probably opt for the trained one. =(
If they hire you, they'll give you or tell you of any training you need. I think it's mostly just the every-so-often crap to refresh the teachers' knoledge.
