how much it costs i'm not really sure, you'd be able to find that information out at your local clinic. mirena and paragard the 5 year and the 10 year implant are just as effective as birthcontrol pills and eliminate the human aspect of having to remember to take a pill everyday. like all medications and procedures....these implants do have some mild side effects. mirena does release doses of progesterone, so may cause some of the same side effects the pill does for the first month or so after implantation. also it can make you more prone to sexually transmitted infections due to the fact that it irritates the uterine walls. because of this irritation can cause uterine scarring in turn making it more difficult to an egg to emplany in the uterine lining if you decide to attempt to conceive later on down the road. Depending on your age the physician will sit down and talk to you about your decision to use this devise since it it a long term form of birth control. since they really don't want to have to put it in only to take it out the next year because you've suddenly changed your mind they're going to talk to you as if it's something you won't be able to change your mind about once you have it in until it's run it's course...in mirena's case 5 years. That's not the case though....you can have it removed at any time and in a very short time return back you your regular fertility levels.

yes I have one its nice I don't have to remember to take a pill at the same time every day if you are in a monogomous relationship, no condoms! Also after a while you don't even have to worry about a period-nice I know. If you are pregnant and have insurance it is usually covered by your insurance after you have your baby. If not I am not sure how much you can call your doctor and they should be able to let you know though! You should try to get one its one of the best things for my relationship, my husband loves it!
