Depends on condition and where it was minted.

Hi. I'm a coin dealer in the Midwest. Your 1944 half dollar is what is known as a "Walking Liberty" half dollar. It is composed of 90%silver, and depending on its condition will range in value anywhere from about $3 for a used example to as much as $100 or so for a nice UNCIRCULATED (no trace of wear, full luster, as new) example. If your piece is in the typical condition I usually see when someone brings in such an item to our store, it's probably worth $3-$5. Hope this info helped you out.
