I accidentally downloaded one of those viruses that circulates through aol instant messager. Someone sent me a message that said someone was talking about her on myspace and I stupidly clicked the link. She passed it unintentionally, and when it started sending itself to everyone on my buddy list, I panicked and hit the power button on my laptop. Now, when I turn my computer on it won't go past the login page. When I click on my account on the computer and type my password, it says logging on, flashes my desktop, and then says logging off. Is there any way to fix this? I've tried running diagnostics, but they all came up clean. Please help!

Try starting your computer in Safe Mode by pressing F8 before Windows starts. Then run a full scan with your antivirus software.

Hi,if you simply cannot get rid of this virus here is what you
should do: (do not do this unless you know quite alot about pc's)when you do everthing will be gone from your hard drive. Before you do this backup everthing you want to keep on a CD.So open your cover, then you should be able to find a small box(hardrive)quite long but quite skinny. This contains everthing on your pc.
Unplug all the wires that connect to it. Then put them back in. Then put your cover back on and when you turn on your pc you will have to re-load your operating system. And then the virus should be gone!

The first thing to do is to download this software "Spybot - Search & Destroy" from www.download.com, this will remove any spy software from your computer and it is freeware. This may will remove the virus too from your computer. Then if you can get an AntiVirus software like Norton Anti Virus or there are several free AntiVirus softwares available too from www.download.com.

I think the Spybot - search & destroy would remove the virus completely which even Norton AntiVirus couldn't remove it. (My personal experience). This software can find any type of spy software that even paid software can't find.

Everyone else here has made some good recommendations, but I would recommend you enter Safe Mode with Networking, and attempt to get online. If you can do that, head to www.trendmicro.com and perform the HouseCall free online virus scanner. Trend Micro is the leader in anti-virus software.

If you require further assistance, please feel free to email techsupport@thepcmonitor.com. Please include the question in your email.

Download the McAfee Stinger for free..just search for it from another computer...

Start your computer (infected one) in safe mode...press F8 while it is booting. Insert the floppy you save the Stinger to and copy it to the desktop..run it.
