Well, I don't really understand what Aussie momy is trying to say. She wrote americans don't have money to give up, Ironically, It's make me to smile. According to the world Military expenses, World military expenditure in 2005 is estimated to have reached $1001 billion at constant (2003) prices and exchange rates, or $1118 billion in current dollars. This corresponds to 2.5 per cent of world GDP or an average spending of $173 per capita. World military expenditure in 2005 presents a real terms increase of 3.4 per cent since 2004, and of 34 per cent over the 10-year period 1996–2005. The USA, responsible for about 80 per cent of the increase in 2005, is the principal determinant of the current world trend, and its military expenditure now accounts for almost half of the world total- (check with the website http://my.opera.com/poupoune5/blog/show.dml/295140 ) or reliable documents. However, Why They do have money for making Carpet bomb etc. ?

USA ( and a number of other countries ie France) stil pay large subsidies to their farmers and doesn't agree to other countries having subsiies - and not just developing ones - because this allows their farmers to keep their prices artifically low so that they can sell more and therefore drive more sales. if Other countries who can produce cheaper than the USA anyway had subsidies then US farmers would not be as wealthy as they are.

I think that's how it works.

Addtional: This seems to have gone down the slope of "we can't support the rest of the world blah blah blah. All these comments add to the flavour around the world that Americans see themselves as the polcieman; that everything they believe is true should be put o\upon the whole world and why should we help the poor. This is because if all the wealth of the world was $100 and there were only 100 people in the world, $95 would belong to SIX people and those Six would all be Americans.

USA is spending alot of money (trillions) on Wars it can't really justify simply to secure more wealth for itself.

Are you kidding me?

America is not a bank. We give so much funding to developing/3rd world countries for health care, etc.

Why don't you consider asking an below-poverty level or homeless American what they think of this question.

We are trillions of dollars in debt. The average middle-class American can barely afford a house, and if they can, they can't get any kind of grants for repairs if there is a medical crisis in their family. They pay the medical bills, their roof gets leaks, and then they are SOL.

America doesn't have the money to give away .. we are not a wishing well. We don't ask you to throw a penny in, make a wish, and see how much money the developing country gets.

We need to start using some of that money here on the homefront.

Not to say that I don't believe in helping other countries, but I look at it this way: Why is it that we continue to give money to countries that whip us off, and then come running to us for help?

Sorry if I sound irked by this question. I am, but I'm spouting off in general ... I'm not spouting off at the asker. :)

Edited to add: I don't think that all Americans have a superiority complex, Matt. Is it wrong to say "It's our money, stop giving it away!"? All this money comes from taxes, etc. I'm a 'better traveled American' as well. I've been all over the world. That doesn't mean that I am okay with forking out money that *I don't have* to fund ventures in 3rd world countries .. or in developed countries, for that matter.

Why should America support the rest of the world. We figured out a way to make money and improve our country, why can't your country do the same thing?

It's amazing how many people hate America but they all want a hand out from us.

We can't subsidize the entire world, but as it is, America gives more financial assistance to other countries around the world than all other nations combined. Unfortunately, many times the money is squandered by the recipient governments.

why should we? is it somehow America's duty to be the welfare tit to the entire world? I don't even agree with the welfare handouts the US government does inside the US let alone the billions they pass out to the rest of the world that are by their very nature stolen- none of the handouts are Constitutional, moral, or helpful- STOP all handouts, and quit stealing money from everyone in the bloody world is my answer. (but the Feds don't listen, they're too busy stealing elections)

the way i see it the american people think that america is dishing out money to the third world, but as far as i know they are only loaning money which has to be paid back, with interest, no body in this entire world gives any thing for nothing, this in return allows them to trade with other countries, and helps to build relationships which is very necessary for this world to have peace, if you look at your expenditure in the last war you will know where your money and taxes are going to ,

We give beaucoup millions to any number of countries, plus investment in other countries which creates jobs and provides opportunity for the locals. Much of the aid is wasted or stolen by the two -bit dictators who run the show there. By the way, it's OUR country, and OUR money.

Actually, the US government gives billions in subsidies for these item...but the conservative movement is trying to eliminate them. Subsidies suppress the economy. Generally, letting the market work provides the strongest economy.

Because we are not responsible for providing for the entire globe. We shouldn't do it here. Capitolism only works when it is unencumbered by stupid government regulations and programs.

When will other coutries stop taking the money we give them to help lift themselves from poverty and stealing it for their own bank accounts? I think that's a much better question.
