Why are there people out there who take their religion SO seriously that they start wars over it or committ violent crimes against others?

it's because they think they are right and they want to be right so badly that they will persecute those who don't believe the way they do. i think the zealots also get mad when things go well for those people who do not believe in the same things as the zealots. but, that's just what i think...

People will use any reason to "justify" being destructive, violent or mean.
I will say this, I don't know of too many religions that encourage violence or murder. Usually it's someone that has a screw loose in the first place that will twist their religion to justify what they do.

It's not the people who do it, remember, they are just the sheep. They follow the few who take their belief and control them with it. Leaders and followers. The religion part is just a tool, a carrot to dangle in front of the sheeps eyes. The real objective is money and power, which goes hand in hand with control.

religion is an excuse to combat globalization or controversal foreign policy in sensitive areas that we all know.
religion is a further excuse to influence the masses, preached a minority of educated, intelligent, but crazy indiduals, who need to recruit docile minds to serve their cause.
religion is also a plain excuse to acquire power through guess what...money. This would apply to any religious cult practices around the world!

All created "fundamentalisms" carrying a crime over humanity. In various manifestations, whether we know it or not, justify it or not.Just for simple reason, foundation is not necessarily to be true.

Because people are STUPED that qustion is like asking y are sicko people sicko they just are there. Thoughs type of people are sicko they just blame it on there religion instead of there parents are whatever.
