Mine is wanting to charge me 160.00 USD for the letter, and I think that is just outrageous. I've paid for one once before and I dont think it cost anywhere near this much. This pertains to the sale of your home, you must verify that you paid all your HOA dues while living at the property. If anyone can give me some figures of what they paid, so I can tell if this is a rediculous price or about average it would really help. Right now I am steaming mad over this, b/c I probably have no recourse and will just have to pay it. I think the last letter I paid was more in the 20.00 USD range, and this just has really got me angry at this management firm.

There is no typical cost. They are free to charge whatever they want to. You might want to look into this before purchasing a property covered by a HOA. Personally, I'd never buy into an area with one.

Everyone has their hands out at a real estate closing. Not a lot you can do about it; just pay up.

There is no typical costs and this matter is governed by state law. You might contact the local chapter of the Community Associations Institute to see what information they might have on this practice.
