Does Yahoo actually take abuse reports to heart? Do they follow them? I mean against people who are either contantly harassing, or just making up stupid answers that don't answer the question? If the question is meant to be silly, that's one things. But I take Yahoo Answers to be a place where people can discuss opinions on topics, not gain points and just say silly junk all the time. Also what about people that answer many questions by telling us about their own philosophy or preaching to us instead of answering the question?

What is to be done?

I think if people are harassing or being abusive then yes, they should be booted. However, what you consider to be silly or philosophical may be serious to someone else.

Perhaps Yahoo should make categories that pertain to people of varying ages i.e., teens, 20's, 30's and so on and so on. That way it deals with the maturity level you are looking for (and I use the term "mature" lightly, everything is subjective).

Hope this helps.

I don't know if they will ever remove people who constantly abuse the system. Even, I, who appreciate what this board was created for, have been known to say silly or rude things in an answer from time to time...

I think we, as serious questioners, need to just laugh at the rude or silly answers, and then move to those who actually answer our questions...

That is the point of the internet.

Vast portions of the internet are intended to facilitate the free exchange of ideas between individuals.

Yahoo answers is not meant to be the be-all-end-all research tool for all mankind. It is too open and unregulated for that. If you want real answers to questions, go to a medium that is more regulated and intended for real answers.

If you want to interact with all kinds of people (with an over-abundance of pre-teens) and get a variety of (mostly wrong) answers to your less serious questions, then Yahoo answers is the correct medium.

I think they should get a warning and if they do it more than 10 times they should get booted. Some people just aren't good at answering... like me.
