When I was aroud 5 months pregnant, this dumb stupid man decided to fumigate the offices where I work at. Once I smelled it, I said my boss I couldn't stay, so I left within almost an hour. Next day I came back, but it still smelled and I only stayed for one hour in the morning, and came back in the afternoon for half an hour. On Saturday I only worked 4 hrs. The insecticed they used was for "urban" use, meaning that it's not as harmful?

My baby is 9 months old now, he's thin but very active and happy. The OB said not to worry, the ped. said if anything, it could have cause harm to me, but very unlikely to the baby.

I've heard the insecticides may cause leukemia on adults or unborn babies.

Has anyone gone through something like this? Or heard anything about this? Do you think it harmed my baby?

I have faith that nothing will happen to him...I just wanna know if any of you have had similar experiences.

Thanks :)

I've been taking my baby to every month check up, and he's in excellent health.

most likely it did no harm. any insecticide that can be used in a populated area is usually not going to do any damage to humans, though i would not take the chance with a growing baby.

and if your doctors told you that it was unlikely, then i would not worry about it.

its not like you were running after the DEET truck and dancing in the spray...

The plain fact is thats its impossible to tell, and even if it had some harmful effect it may not be obvious for many years. Most domestic type pesticides undergo very rigorous testing for safety to humans, although you shouldn't breath them deeply for long periods. But if your baby if perfectly healthy, and you were only exposed to the insecticide briefly for a few hours, then I think you are worrying completely unnecessarily.

I do know that the placenta acts as a filter to keep harmful substances from passing from mother to the baby. That plus the fact that you were exposed for such a short time, means that the baby probably didn't even come into contact with the insecticide.

We have tendence to worrry about everything but I think that if your docotr thought that something was wrong with your son they would have told you along time ago.you said that he's thin well beats the hell out of a 18 months old who wears a 3T,sweetie you have a angel sent by god.
Now days they can catch anything when your pregnant be thankful that he is healthy.
Stop worrying

Pesticides now adays are made to be sprayed around humans and animals. I live above my work place. We HAVE to be sprayed monthly due to the business I am in. We have had many pregnant women working there in the past 6 years years that I have been there. They can't spray if there is even a tiny doubt it could harm anyone. So rest assure everything is OK. Trust your doctor.

Some men feel weird at first when they have sex with someone who is pregnant and it's totally normal. No, you aren't hurting the baby and no, you aren't hitting the baby in the head with you "thingy", lol. Don't worry! But if the woman says no or not right now, do push it... these pregger chicks can get crazy on you sometimes! lol.

You inadvertently inhale things everyday that aren't necessarily ok for you. The fact that you minimized your exposure. Your real concern would be if you ingested it or if it came in contact with your skin for an extended period of time. You and your baby are fine.

i haven't gone through anything quite like that, but when i was in labor, i had Sadol, and epidural.the whole time my son was in the hospital until we went home, he was sleeping, and wouldn't eat, wouldn't move anything. i asked the doctors, they said oh he is fine, just tired. he was actually high as gas. one thing i know, if it happens to you when you are pregnant your baby felt it. now, it may not have had any negative effects, but know that he was exposed, and just make a note of it "just in case"....
