You could also see if anyone who plays for the team has a relative who works for a firm that would sponsor them!

Try to target the sponsorship so that it is relevant. For example, try your local toy store or sports shop. Also try the local supermarket (in our area, the local Co-op has recently been handing out grants) - they want to be seen as local supporters.

Ask if you can put an appeal in your local school newsletter.

Tell the local press you are looking for sponsorship and see if they will put in an appeal.

Don't forget to tell people how matches you play (and how many you win - if you are on a winning streak!) - and how many people turn up at matches, as well as how many times you have been mentioned in the local papers. Could you change the name of the team so that it's Bloggs (original name) Junior Football Team so that every time the team is mentioned, so is the sponsor (like the Barclays Premier League.

Good luck with your fundraising - I know how hard it is to raise money! It is also one of the hardest things and probably makes running the club a cinch!

They should pay the whole cost of policing games. It's not just the clubs that need the protection, it's the innocent bystanders that need the protection from the behaviour of the few drunken yobs that think the game is not on the field but in the adjacent streets. Don't use the excuse that some clubs can't afford police protection, that lets them all off the hook. perhaps the richer clubs should pay a levy so that all clubs can afford police protection. After all they pay obscene amounts to some of their players. What happens in other countries regarding policing of games.

If you write a decent proposal plan and outline the team needs and success, try and set up a meeting with a possible sponsor. If they accept, treat it like you are proposing a new business idea to them, outline what you need from them and other important items on the agenda, do your best to wow them, good luck.

Go around to local successful businesses in your area and offer advertising for them on your new kits. Good luck.
