Yes Braxton Hicks contractions hurt! With my daughter I thought I was going into preterm labor at 5 months and rushed to the Dr but he said it was just Braxton Hicks. Then I started cramping, much like when I'm getting ready to start my period, back to the Dr, Braxton Hicks again. After the second trip he told me that I didn't need to come back in or go to the ER unless the cramping was accompanied by bright red spotting or bleeding. You can also get round ligament pain on one or both sides of your lower abdomen that feels like sharp cramping.

I am 28 weeks along too! I am having braxton hicks and yes thats sort of like what they feel like. And they can be painful, you just have to monitor them and if they start getting really regular then call your dr. (regular meaning, so long every 5, 4 minutes apart)

They feel like a tightening of your belly. I didn't know that until I was induced with my first baby. The nurse said "Oh there's a contraction..." I said "Oh is that what that is? I've been having those for weeks." They can sometimes be a little painful but most often if feels like a tightening of the belly right in front. If it goes to your back and becomes uncomfortable or if they are getting closer together as far as time, call your doc.

Yes, or even when you have diarrihea, the very bad cramps from that. Also you may feel them in your back. Contractions feel the same way, except a lot more painful.

It could also feel like a pulling of your skin.

Yes they can come and go I had them at that time I worked in a nusing home and I had to sit and rest and put my feet up but got them all the time but my baby was 1 week over due and my baby weight was 9lbs.not to scare you but it's normal unless you loose your mucus plug when you go to the bathroom or you spot blood then you might be going into labor is this your first baby??

Mine never did. I would just get a really tight stretching feeling across my abdomen, and my uterus would get rock hard, but I never had pain with mine. Real contractions feel like menstrual cramps...BAD menstrual cramps.
