Judging from the performance of the past few U. S. Presidents (both parties), just about anything can get into the White House.... ;-}

In all seriousness, I think the current setup where only native-born non-felons are eligible is still the best setup, because there are always more native born candidates than there are possible openings . Given that just about all other political positions are open to foreigners who have take the oath of citizenship, there's plenty of power available there for non-native born to go after.

I think that the Constitution has served us well in excess of 200 years. The reasons the founding fathers made that a provision of the Document was to preclude anyone loyal to King George from inveigling his way into the Presidency. Those who say that there if no danger of that happening in the present aren't reading newspapers or watching TV or getting news on the Internet. There are many countries on the planet where the people wish us ill. Anyone of them can recruit capable people to enter the U.S. legally and run for office (remember the "Manchurian Candidate")? It it ain't broke, don't fix it.

What do you mean by 'anyone'?
I'm not American, but my understanding is that you have to be a native born American to become president. But any citizen can become a member of the senate or congress.
Are you suggesting revising the Constitution to allow immigrants to become president?
Or are there some other limitations I don't know about?

I feel that people a lot smarter than us, and way more patriotic than us(because they had to fight for freedom) wrote it, they knew what was best, do we want someone who's only been in hte US like a year, and can't speak English as our president, or someone who is still growing mentally, like a fifteen year old as our president. It's as it should be. The only changes I can see are maybe changing it so if legally you came ot America in your first 5 years of life you could run. I don't know.

Anyone? So a four year old? Or Charles Manson? Any American Born Citizen, of appropriate age, can be president. What changes are necessary to that?

A non-citizen? Younger? Non-naive? I do not see anything needing change. It is perfect just the way it is. Why fix it if it aint broke.

No, I think that the Constitution should be as stands...

I dont want some one from Russia over here, running our Country. Or, just think if Saddam Hussein were to come over and get elected, and do his dirty deeds and take over and make it a dictator ship after he eliminated enough people to negate the Constitution...

Lets keep what we have, a Citizen that will run our Country, and not a foreigner...

I wish you well..
