We human beings possess magic...we do!
There are many things assumed to have a basis in science.
I disagree with those who state that science is capable of explaining all the things that transpire within our universe.
I believe science will never be able to explain away our capability to love, to create inspiring forms of art and to fully appreciate those things. To sacrifice and to have faith.
I believe there is a side to science which must always, at the end of the day, give in to the notion that magic does in fact exist in the soul of a child, the complex songs of the birds and whales, the electricity we route through endless uses, DNA and even the mysteries of matter itself.
We live in an age in which any visitor from just a century ago would not hesitate to describe as...magical.
We are all sorcerers, booting our computers and cells and ipods. Boarding a jet for a same-day cross-continental flight. The flicks of switches, the pushes of keys are our incantations.
Magic?
It's in us, and all around us!
Revel in the power!

People don't believe magic exists because the outcome of magical work is so inconsistent. Sometimes results come out favorably; mainly they don't. For a thing to be considered real, the results have to be consistent, where conditions are similar. Even when the same people do the same spell over time, they will almost certainly have negative outcomes most of the time. In other words, sometimes you do the chant, and what you wanted might happen. Generally, it doesn't. Magic is inconsistent and unreliable as a means of achieving what one desires. And, that is why most reasonable people neither believe in it nor rely on it as a means of getting what they want. And do not forget: prayer is nothing more than a form of magic, and no more consistent or reliable than any other form of magic.

To paraphrase Arthur C. Clarke, the famous science-fiction writer ("2001: A Space Odyssey"): any sufficiently-advanced technology will be indistinguishable from magic.
Basically, magic is part of the human sense-making system. It allows us to deal with phenomena that are completely beyond our experience - it explains the unexplainable.
But, since the ancient Greeks, and most especially since the Renaissance, a paradigm shift (a radical, near-universal change in the way people think) has left most of society believing that *all* things are explainable - in time. This sort of cuts magic out of the picture, and reduces all things to scientific phenomena - there is that which is explained, and that which is (so far) unexplained; but nothing unexplainable, per se.
However, magic is lately making a comeback. With a renewed interest in non-European cultures, Westerners have begun to make room in their lives for points of view other than scientific method. Everything from Santuria and Vodun ("voodoo"), to Eastern concepts such as karma, to pan-Western New Age spirituality is finding a home in a surprising number of people's minds. Add to this the resurgence of quasi-Celtic neopaganism, where magic (or "magick" or "magik") is used by some in an attempt to influence people or events.
In this sense, magic very definitely *does* exist. To those who believe, magic exists as an influence in their lives. To those who do not, magic still exists, but more as a cultural phenomenon.

Who says ? The only thing that we can believe in is magic. At least if magic means that you cannot follow what is happening. Isn't it lovely to be lifted out of a miserable work situation by the flash of a wonderful dream ?

Because people either just don't believe it, or they know that magic is fake because God did not give anything any kind of power like that. The only thing that might be considered migic to some people (very few) is some of the feats people acomplished durring bible times. Still, that was from great faith in the Lord, and knowing that he would do it for them if the need was great enough. Remember, God loves you so much that he gave his only son to die on the cross for our sins.

Dear Doctor, What are dark things ? Even black things can also observed in the light only. So light is compulsory for observing black and other colours. Magic is nothing but the secrecy of an action. If we know the secrecy of that item there is no magic at all. Every thing happened on this earth based on their own resulted papa/punyas of their own previous birth. No body shall change any item other than GOD ordered. Some times doctors can also require check up of their own body. Be on that job dear.

people like to use magic and fantasy to hide what they WANT, so it is hard to believe in magic.. i believe that all magic is people trying to trick me to get what they want, good or bad. so i may not know the trick being used but you can often prove there is one. I am tricked every day by some person who i want to believe. I want To be clever and find out how the tricks is done.

Magic depends on the definition. If you're thinking about the whole wand waving, broom stick flying thing then most people don't believe. But if you're talking about a force that grants wishes or helps everyday people then we already have a name for that. God. Other people also believe in magi in nature and things, so people do still believe. They just aren't vocal about it.
