Im moving to Dallas, what is a good city to live in around dallas?

I have these three choices: allen, flower mound, or frisco. Im looking for good schools, nice subdivisions, and a nice atmosphere.

Also, looking for a city where you can actually do something, parks, sport centers, near another city with shopping centers.

All three of your choices are nice and have perks. Flower Mound has been growing immensely and is becoming a nice place to live. If you can, check out Coppell. I used to live there and it is just south of Flower Mound. I loved it there! Its close to all the major hwys which makes getting where you want to go easier.

Frisco is nice and closer to "the action" I guess.

Allen I don't know too much about except that your getting a bit out there and far away from things to do.

McKinney is a nice fun place to live but is getting more expensive and Grapevine is nice as well and close to Lake Grapevine, the airport, and the Gaylord as well as a few golf courses.

If you like city life then you're in for a big disappointment by moving to Dallas. The closest thing Dallas has is Uptown, and we consider it pricey, but you may not think so after living in Chicago. Compared to Chicago the rest of Dallas seems more like suburbia. Downtown Dallas is DEAD after 5 when everyone gets off work and goes back to the suburbs. The only people you'll see on the streets will be homeless. I hope you have a car, because you're going to laugh when you see what we call public transportation.

I recommend Frisco. It is one of the fastest growing areas in the city. You have all of the conviences of the city and nightlife in the safe enviornment of the burbs.

And it is a quick trip to the city down the North Dallas Tollway. Moving out to Flower Mound and Allen are just to far from everything.

I was born in Dallas, and have lived in several areas surrounding Big D. I currently am on Lake Lewisville, which is a few miles east of Flower Mound. It's great being on the lake, and it's close to Interstate 35 in case you want to get about anywhere in the Dallas Ft. Worth area. It's like being in the country and the city at the same time!

Allen is peaceful but too small and far from Dallas. Flower Mound is cool but small also. Frisco is great but the construction would cause the Pope to curse God. I'd advise Richardson where I also plan to move. Its a great 'burb with great schoold and easy access to Allen, McKinney and points north, or points south, Dallas.

Frisco is the fasted growing area, but it's north of Dallas & traffic is heavy. Arlington is about half way between Dallas & Fort Worth. This is where the new Dallas Cowboy stadium will be built. Irving is also nice.

i personally like the city alot instead of all the suburbs, so i would suggest maybe living in the city of Dallas? I live in North Dallas and it's great because i am about 7 minutes away from downtown and uptown and everything else that is going on.

Dallas/Ft. Worth generally breaks down along racial lines, you need to know this when moving here...I'm not trying to be ugly or rude, just realistic. It's alot like Detroit or any other major metropolitan city...I live in Arlington and it is extremely fragmented by race...huge Anglo community in the SW area, huge Asian pop. in the central area and a huge Hispanic community in the eastern portion....makes for some very diverse cultures and some awesome mom and pop eating establishments....! : )

Grand Prairie - my kids recently moved there with their dad to attend college...It's a wonderful little town & cheaper than some of the others - especially Flower Mound.
