It's a very individual thing, and probably not affected by how long you've been on the birth control pill. I was on the pill for six years, and got pregnant three months after going off it. Then I was on the pill again for eight years, went off it again, went through all kinds of infertility treatments, gave up, adopted, and ten years after going off the pill the second time found out I was pregnant again. (There is a 19-year age difference between my biological children.)

Good luck!!

It doesn't matter if you've been one the pill for 4 months or 4 years it won't be any harder. I have heard of people getting prego thier first month off the pill after being on it for 10 years it really just depends on your body. Every woman is different your body has to start ovulating again before you can conceive. So it could take you a month or it could take a year. There are a lot of great websites to help you chart your fertility weather you are trying to get prego or not some of them include...
babyzone.com
ibabydust.com

That's how long I had been on the pill and I got pregnant immediately after. I had my normal period when I finished my last pack of pills and didn't go on to have my next one, so within that three weeks time, I got pregnant. It really just depends on you. And you don't have to wait for any amount of time after being on the pill to try for a baby, it won't affect their health, just be sure to be taking a multi-vitamin or prenatal vitamin.

I was on the pill for 5 years and then it was finally time to have a child :) Anyway, went off the pill and got pregnant IMMEDIATELY (I probably had one full period, if that) I had him at 21. At 31 - I had my second, it took me longer (1 1/2 yr) but it's ok. You should be fine.

Most people will have no problem although Dr.s usually reccommend you use an alternative method of birthcontrol for the first couple of months to let yur body readjust to a normal cycle before trying to concieve.

Things such as age, health, weight and timing have a greater impact on difficulty.

Good Luck

Well I'm not sure about 4 yrs but I'll share with you my experience. I was on birth control for 3 yrs and it took me and my Husband about 3 yrs, of unprotected sex, to get pregnant. My sister was on birth control for 4 yrs and when she got married she stopped and became pregnant in a few months. But keep in mind that everybody is different and when it is time for you to conceive it will be well worth it!

It is different for everyone. I was off the pill for three days and I got pregnant. If you are trying to conceive, keep track of the days between your period and get ovulation tests from a drug store, they work great.

generally doctors will tell you to wait at least one year after stopping birth control to start having children, however, my sister took birth control for about 9 years before she stopped taking them and then became pregnant within a few months and the baby was extremely healthy and he's almost 6 years old now and as smart as ever.....consult a doctor if your just not sure....of course the opinions that are posted here are not as accurate or replace that of your health care provider...good luck
