Of course, the answer to this question lies to the fact that how well can the US control the rising hatred among different nations, and how well can the spread of Nuclear Technology be restricted....
But if a Nuclear Bomb does happe to strike the US, it will result in lot of death and destruction... Not to consider the economic harm, but it will lead to a very dirty war too....
The consequences can be damaging, so better not hope for such a thingt to happen in the first place...

Depending on the magnitude of the nuclear weapon it could cause a million endless options that could days but one of the most reasonable options is the bomb hits the US the aftershock causes genetic mutation, and cracks a vein in a cave structure with is weakens the dirt due to insect burrows and leads to a volcanic structure suck as old faithful and cause a inward collapse of land, increases heat, and magma flows over. The after math of this is extremely cold temperatures brinking on ice age, nuculerly evolved insects and mass death. The other option is mass tsunami.

well, it doesn't really matter where exactly, because it would send out EMP shockwaves that would potentially and permanantly knock out all of the electrical devices we use today. Car starters, computers, lights, elevators, everything would just shut down permanantly. America could plunge into a "dark age" kind of. Think of a power outage that hurts everything electrical, except for years to fully recover and then the thought would still linger in our minds. America is very vunlerable to an atomic bomb or EMP attack. By the way, EMP stands for Electro Magnetic Pulse.

In all seriousness, if a bomb hit the USA, many factors must play before you can see what the reaction will be like. One: Where does it strike, Two: Casualties, Three: Country/Terrorist To Blame, and so forth. But the reaction is always the same, the idiot who does it gets owned by the USA and friends....if we have any more.....

It depends on where it lands (aka: ground zero). Depends on how large the devise is (how much of a circumference will be affected by the actual explosion and the following aftermath of radiation). If a Hiroshima size warhead hit California, people in New York wouldn't really need to worry - except for maybe economic impact. It would probably mean WWIII.

it depends on the intensity of the bomb. If its weak only 1 or 2 cities will be destroyed. But if its very strong, then the whole world may be destroyed...and the Solar System, Milky Way Galaxy all will lose its balance and anythng can happen

Well if North Korea does it, it will hit the West Coast! So I'm staying East!!
I doubt it will ever happen anyways because we have a good defense system that would take it down over the ocean.

People would die.
And then the US would go postal on the rest of the world. It's a dream come true! Come on, you know there are countries we're just dying to wipe off the map. This would be a good excuse.

depends on where it hits. it will take out a major city and the em pulse will shut down electricity so we'll step back 100 years. a lot will die from the hit and radiation like what happened in Japan.
