as kids that have diseases? Do they not hurt? Not all make-a-wish kids are dying children, my brother-in-law was a make-a-wish kid and his disease was never diagnosed as fatal. So should an abused kid not get the same rights? what do you think?

I am not trying to be critical at all, i think that organization is one of the best things we have going in this world, but i was just wondering your opinion on if you think they should expand it to abused children. thats all.

Great question! Yes, I think children who have been physically abused should be able to be 'Make-a-Wish' kids. The suicide rate for sexually abused children is well documented and therefore one could say physical abuse has potential to be fatal.

Yes. I believe any underprivileged child should get to make a wish, whether poor, abused, or diseased. However, with abusive children, their wish would probably be to remove the abuse. Thus, it could easily be solved through a social worker's intervention and would not require a wish (it would require a phone call).
If it's with a child that has been abused before, and the abuse has stopped, I think a child with a disease should get the wish because the child with the disease has constant suffering (although the abused child may have psychological issues).
Maybe the Make-a-Wish foundation should concentrate on those with fatal diseases before they concentrate on other children.

gosh... that's a good question, but then again, wouldn't the parents know that they got the wish? and then they (the parents) would be sort of exposed- for lack of a better word. like people would know they were abusive... so really, abused children couldn't really apply... and i think that the foundation would not want to go through all that trouble. i mean the abused child would be in a dangerous situation and they'd have the responsibility of getting the child out.

Maybe not Make-a-Wish kids, but I do think they deserve a program for them as well. Make-a-Wish has limited funds and as much as I'd like to see abused kids have a wish or two granted, I think Make-a-Wish is fulfilling it's mission as it stands.
I know there's a program that gives kids removed from abusive homes teddy bears or other stuffed toys, but I think maybe they should have a special program to let them be kids for a little bit.

Thats tough, i wish that abused kids could be make a wish kids, but there are so many kids that are abused i don't think they would have enough room for all the kids. God Bless Kids :)

I would hope that, instead of adding these victims to the "Make a Wish" group, we could somehow go about irradicating this heinous crime. There are few things worse than true Child abuse, but I want to be perfectly clear here, swatting a child on his butt is NOT child abuse.

Of course or maybe have a special program for abused children. As a result of being abused children can have mental issues. Therefore they should be treated equal.

I think that a private organization has a right to choose who to give charity to. There is not an unlimited supply of money in these charities, and they are not required to do what they do.
I think you should stop being so critical of an organization that helps children.

its a moral thing your asking, and a catch 22 thing, because if we say no we're cruel and if we say yes, are we being too kind? i think yes though, any kids that gotta deal with that, deserves a wish.
