I live in the Cincinnati, Ohio area. I seperated the parents after I found the first litter, but she was already pregnant again. I don't know what to do with them. I don't know how long I have until the babies are able to breed. If anybody has any ideas I would be grateful. I want to get rid of them in the most humane way (i.e. find them good homes). I called all of the pet stores around here but I had no takers.

Not sure which variety of dwarfs you have, cambells dwarf aka russian dwarfs, must be sexed and seperated at 4 weeks. females go into heat every four days and it takes roughly 19 days for a litter to be born, and usually that day or next day she will go into heat and mate with male again. Try craigslist.com you can list the babies as free to good home, i found homes for a few of mine that way.

If the pet store won't take them then call the humane society. They may be able to find good homes for them. Or list them in the newspaper-someone will take them.

i'm sorry to assert this yet there is little to no threat the toddler will survive, they choose they are mothers, i exploit to reproduce hamsters and often the runt could get kicked out of the nest, we tried to take care of it feeding it bread soaked in water, as thats what the mummy ought to eat at the same time as she's pregnant along with her wide-spread food and the babies must additionally eat it while they first initiate desiring food, the runts that have been given kicked out under no circumstances survived long and in the event that they are saved far flung from they are mom for some days even some hours and you place it back she will kill it. p.s- having hamsters have babies with family contributors (incest) will reason the babies to be deformed
