As i've been scrolling around reading peoples' answers to some of these questions, i've realized that there are alot of extremely close minded, prejudiced people. Whats up with that?

Closed-minded and prejudiced are words that come to mind when reading a question whose premise is not only really general and much too all-inclusive, but which also comes completely from a website like this one which is populated by a huge number of different countries other than America, and therefore representative in the opinions you can find here of a lot more than just "American" closed-mindedness. You can find Chinese closed-mindedness, Australian closed-mindedness, Welsh closed-mindedness, South African closed-mindedness, and just about any kind of closed-mindedness you want to find. A question like that deserves to be directed at all the cultures of the world, because otherwise, it's unfair, stupid, and completely ineffective.

LOL....try asking the correct question which is why is most of the human race so ignorant?
I have been all over the world and it is the same everywhere I go. The Middle East, The Far East, Europe, Africa, South America and Austraila all have racist and close minded people. Look at some of the terrorist in the Middle East who want to kill me because of my religion and race.....don't you think that is just a tad close minded and prejudice? I could go on giving examples but what you need to do is take a look at the real world outside of your computer and Yahoo answers and you would see that it's not just Americans....it's the whole world. We are all in spiritual trouble and people who want to blame it on just on culture are doing nothing but fueling the fire.

I do not think that the average American is ignorant. The sample of people you get from this site is probably much younger than the one you get in America so I am guessing that the close-minded replies you see are just a reflection of today's youth.

Native Americans are not ignorant, but on one count and that was letting all the settlers from other countries invade and take over their lands! But you are right about some people (not all) and I think it is a world problem and is not exclusive to people you are grouping as Americans.

Definitely a true statement. The funny thing is that most people who claim that others are closed minded are just as stuck in their ways as the people they are talking about. Not saying that about you, since I don't know you, but everyone has their own opinion and they are going to stick to it, because by nature humans are selfish.

culture difference. In American culture individual is respected, everyone is on his own and one has the right to do many things, that's why they're so active and creative (freedom of mind). At the same time they don't really care about the others or what others say due to the same reason.

yes, your right! I am American , but some people have to act so studip sometimes. it's not just Americans it's everywhere but I know exactly what your talking about. I dont see why people are prejudice some just have darker skin. There is nothing wrong with them !!!
