No, becasue, if you ever watch old shows from the 70's.. they were all hyped up that there was an ice age coming. odd how we suddenly changed it into global warming? yes.
if you actually study charts of the history of our planet's heating and cooling over time, its quite normal for earth to heat up and cool down by a few degrees over a couple hundred years.
do you know where the big concern is? 1.5 degrees on average. Over 200 years. of course a BIT of it might have been influenced by the coming of the industrial revolution, but as already mentioned on here, volcanoes etc give way more crap into the atmosphere than we ever did. and besides.. with all the tree huggers etc businesses arent allowed to put nearly as much gas into the atmposhere as before. we're almost cleaner than before the industrial revolution. we dont use coal furnaces... everything is cleaner on the whole.
and also.. i always find this funny...if you look up the past ice ages... you'll notice how the tempurature rises for a time steeply.. then plunges. i forget the interval of years exactly... but i do know we're ready... and guess what? then temps rising. i'd be moving towards the equator, not the poles in coming centuries.

besides... how could ppl make money in the news etc if they didnt make a big hype about something so non-effecting as global warming? they should at least get their information straight and threaten us about an ice age. then maybe you can beleive them.

if all else fails people... DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH! dont trust what everyone else says. you cant even tell where the facts are coming from.

When you say "global warming", the first thing you have to do is strip out the emotional content that has been slathered on the concept like icing on a cake. We hear all of this nonsense about humans polluting the earth when, in fact, nature does that all by itself. Look at Krakatoa or Mt. St Helens; they spewed more pollutants into the air than all the cars every made and the earth is still here.

Another example, Environmentalists like to say that the "rain forests" (they are jungles, people - not as sexy as rain forest, but jungles none the less) provide us with oxygen and yet the founder of the largest environmental group found that the "rain forests" were net users of oxygen due to the constant decomposition of organic matter on the jungle floor.

Now, as for global warming; is the earth warming up? No one, and I repeat, no one, knows for sure. However, what we do know is that the earth goes through changes over millenia and has been warm, cold and warm again, many times. Ice ages have been common as have been times of warming. If the earth is warming, then it is doing so all by itself.

It is not unlike the earth changing magnet poles now and then or tipping more or less on its access. It will happen so the only question is when and by how much. Just ignore the hype by the wackos. They haven't got the faintest idea what they are talking about and have proven it over and over again. Relax and go buy a new swim suit because if the earth is warming, there isn't a darned thing you or I can do about it but acclimate.

Overblown Hype is right, Monkey! That's all it is. Just like someone else said that the earth has it's ups and downs, that pretty much sums it up. If you look at the weather of the earth as a whole, and I don't mean just the past couple hundred years, this has always been the case. As far as the hole in the ozone layer and all that, well guess what: it was there before cars started emitting fumes, so we didn't do it! So don't worry about the global warming thing - it will cool off soon.

Anyone with any sort of social conscience of course is worried about global warming. The temperature of the Gulf of Mexico is going up causing stronger storms. The glaciers in Alaska and British Columbia are melting.
Only George W Bush and his minions have chosen to ignore the evidence that 180 other world leaders have heeded and put into effect as international laws.

Funny. 30 years ago, environmentalists were concerned about global COOLING. Not kidding, I have a Newsweek article from Earth Day in the '70s about just that. The Earth goes through cycles of ups and downs. We were in a down then, and probably a slight up now. Lots of questions whether humans have any responsibility. But don't believe everything Al Gore tells you. Question everything.

Very much so. Just remember, the more CO2, the hotter it will be. Think about opening a car after it has been in the hot summer sun all day, with the windows rolled up. This same thing happens with GW. Only problem is, the photons are trapped in the atmophere and can't escape. WE have to understand that as a species, we are killing ourselves and our planet. Trade in those gas guzzlers and get a hybrid. Utillize alternate energy sources. If we can get a man on the moon, we can easily do this. Big oil is slow to move because of the cut in their profits.

Get a grip! Since we haven't been forecasting weather but for a very short time, NO ONE is absolutely sure if there is such a phenomenon as GLOBAL WARMING as GLOBAL weather patterns are most likely cyclical - just like everyday weather patterns. It doesn't mean that we shouldn't be worried about CO2 buildup which will cause temperatures to rise or the increase of methane and other gases which trap heat in our planetary atmoshpere. Besides, any kind of data can be "skewed" to present one's viewpoint.

Yes, absolutely. The majority of the world's major scientists agree that Global warming is happening. Glaciers are rapidly receding and temperatures world-wide are going up. it is causing a lot more hurricanes and typhoons.

The depletion of the o-zone layer cannot have any benefit to mankind. We need to develop alternative forms of energy now in order to prevent a global catastrophe.

While many people are and should be concerned about it - there is hope. Becuase of all the world's changes towards more bio-friendly technology, the hole in the ozone that is causing global warmning has stopped widening and scientists believe that within 20 years, it will begin to repair itself, and shrink. This will only happen with less harmful omissions, etc.

OHMYGOSH! I am SO freaked out about that! There was this thing on 60 Minutes about how President Bush has been hiding how bad global warming is. Scientists turn in their reports and he'll change words around to make it seem a lot less disaterous than it really is. But scientists say that if we aren't careful, in ten years we are gonna be in BIG trouble. And that scares the cat crap outta me.
