I ask this only because I recognize the contribution older gays have made through the sacrifices, beatings, arrests, taunts and hatred (the likes of which cannot be imagined by most of todays young gays) Would it kill younger gays to show respect, remember, if it wasn't for that old "***" in the bar, you might not be as free as you are today.
I would ask for serious responses only, please don't diss older gays here, they've paid enough for hate.
Thanks

Because it's a good way to enjoy our youth! Making people feel envy 4 it! And then... one day.... we will be as old as the people we disrespect, ain't that fair?

Just an idea, but maybe if an older gay at a bar is coming on to a younger gay, it might make things a little uncomfortable. Plus, I've heard questions before like "why are all gays b!tches?" I think it can be more of a defense mechanism, only giving back what society has given them.

In the gay scene, the emphasis is on sex, youth, physical appearance and money. Internalising these beliefs fuel a desire for younger people, which can be frustrating for older people (who feel like they're on the scrapheap).
Whilst there are some young guys who are attracted to older guys, its generally the norm for people to be attracted to those approximate to their age group.
There is also a misconception amongst younger gay guys that an older guy who is talking to them is trying to get them into bed. This might be responsible for the problems you're experiencing. You might want to try a different bar, or go to a social group instead - where the emphasis is more on the people than the scene.

There's another side to the coin here.
In the gay leather community, the scene is dominated by older guys and the younger leathermen tend to get looked down on a lot. It's nothing short of snobbery and elitism - and this proves that it's not only younger gay men that are disrespectful.
This is a huge problem across the entire gay community, and it's something that ALL of us have to work on together.

Because the gay men have not learnt how much attractive can be the old people, just think in Tom Cruise he is almost 50 years old and he is beautiful, has a pretty face, big butt and nice crotch but many youngs think that he is and old trash, they only think in Britney Spears and thinhs like her

True- but it is just a kid thing, with disrespect these days. If I disrespected an adult I would have been beat BAD. I have learned alot from older people. Not like I am a young chicken anymore.

because within the gay culture, there's the obsession of worshipping the youth and physical beauty. Many young gay men adapted easily with such superficial value rather than learning the history of human right struggles.....it's the paris hilton symtom....all flashy with no substance....

I find it very bad, but what can one do? Respect 'em! At least you'll have that feeling of "I'm doing something good ;)"
