The first thing to say is no smoking is good for you. However as someone who has smoked a pipe for nearly twenty five years having graduated from cigarettes, I can honestly say smoking the pipe is preferable. Couple of things: You do not inhale the pipe. Pipe tobacco is processed differently, but a lot of ex-cigarette smokers do, and this is deadly. You do have to learn how to smoke a pipe and how to avoid burning your lip (which can lead to mouth cancer). A cheap pipe is both dangerous and unpleasant. One doesn't tend to smoke a pipe all day (again some do!) so, on average maybe two or three bowls. You will not get the same nicotine hit as you would with a cigarette, so using a pipe as a substitute for cigarettes doesn't work - you will skill get the cravings for a smoke. Pipe smoking is an acquired habit, just as chewing tobacco or the use of snuff are and all have their own dangers, but if used properly (like cigars, you are not supposed to inhale them but I know a lot of people who do) the pipe is both enjoyable and very relaxing.

I don't believe it is unhealthy. Most persons who smoke a lot usually live long lives. It is the Dana Reeves' (Superman's Wife) of the world who never smoked and live a clean country fresh air life that dies of smoking/cancer related stuff.

She was a lounge singer and supposedly maybe got a lot of second hand smoke. In this life, what good did it do her not to smoke. None. If I am going to die of smoking or something like it, it sure as hell won't be from second hand smoke...it will be first hand smoke. lol

Yes as the aveloi fill with irritating chemicals from ingredients list of tobacco products one gets the kind of alertness that can prevent a groggy driver from being involved in a fatal motor vehicle accident. Hence the risks vs. benefits of smoking are offset by its ability to keep one alert.

It causes lung damage and other complications.

However, if you are smoking medical marijuana to assist with glaucoma, anorexia, nausea from kemotherapy, etc..... You have bigger fish to fry.

You would then have to decide if the cost outweighs the benefits. Vaporizing would be better than smoking it traditionally. But it still affects the lungs.

Actually the truth is that smoking is not always bad.

Smoking will keep your immune system in a constant state of readiness and high activity. Because of this high state of readiness and activity the efficacy of influenza vaccination in smokers is more effective compared to non-smokers. And this would of course lower your chance of obtaining influenza, which still is one of the greater killers on this planet. Of course before this effect is really noticable you would already have have died from lung cancer.

Yes. Your body loves the poison. It loves having your taste buds burnt and your nose loves having the sense of smell blunted. Your lungs love shallow breats that hinder you from going outside and breathing in a deep cleansing breath. Your teeth love being yellow and tar on them. Your tongue loves sores. Your hair loves stinking to match your clothes and furniture. You lungs love being so burnt up that in comparision you smoking room roof actaully looks white...It is all good, your body loves it.!
