I live in a first floor apartment, there are always ants, and other insects crawling on the floor and walls. I keep it very clean, but the landlord says there's always been a problem. I have a dog and a baby and wanted to get rid of the bugs in a way that wouldn't hurt either of them.

Don't do anything, move. It should be your landlord's responsiblility or the owner of the house/building.

Clean and dry. Crumbs, standing water, moisture, etc are all attractive to bugs.

I suggest you setoff a couple "bug bombs" and clear out for the afternoon. That should do the trick. You might have to repeat in a couple months.

If all else fails, you should call Terminix. Bug the bug remedies you can buy at home depot should enable you to do this on your own.

Move. Once bugs infest an apartment building it's almost impossible to get rid of them. If you treat your apartment, they'll just go next door, and when your treatment wears off, they'll be back.

It sucks, but that's the reality.

We get ants in our house every spring/summer. We think they live in our walls but don't know how to get rid of them.

defogger, call an exterminator, keep your palce clean. seal any cracks you may have around your baseboards and windows, stay on top of your trash and never leave food out, and ask your neighbor if they are having problems and if they can keep their place tidy.

One of your neighbors is a mess.
Use a room defogger. They work.
Also keep food in bags or sealed containers.
