First order of business is the bullpen. They have blown so many situations for the starters. Until you get bullpen help whether it be via trade or farm system there isn't much hope. I think the it is the achilles heel of the team. You have two solid startes in Smoltz and Hudson, while Ramirez has been flashing signs of goodness. Starters are not their weakness and neither is the lineup, it is the pen!!!

I think that there is a big hole at 1B - I would move Chipper to 1B - they will never trade him, then I would start Betemit at 3B. Giles is average at 2B. You could probably get Luis Castillo from the Twins for him. Castillo has good wheels and is way better defensively. The problem is that the Braves are budget/cost conscious and probably will not take on the needed added payroll to improve the team. The Braves never really had to rebuild so I would expect a down year or two while their good minor leaguers are ready. As others have stated, bullpen is a mess. Maybe the pickup the 6-fingered man who was just released by Texas? Unless the Marlins get him back first. No way you trade Andruw - he is your franchise player. If Smoltz is willing to go, trade him. The Braves still have a nice young core of hitters to build/trade.

I saw Andruw Jones play Single A ball the season he moved from A to AA to AAA to MLB and finally the World Series all on one year - I think his age is legit - if it's not I doubt it's off by more than a year or two. You might be able to get a top flight pitcher, like Schmidt plus prospects for A. Jones. I'd keep Giles, like his intensity. I'm no GM though, I honestly don't know what the market is for these guys. I know you don't want to hear this but, if he's healthy, I bet some AL team would like to rent Chipper for the stretch run.

A 10 speed bike, a cooler full of beer, and a 2007 calender should do the trick. He holds very limited value. We may be able to get more for Francoer, and if you want to blow the team up Andruw Jones is the only real value here though questions about his age are still out there.

the question should be "who would take marcus giles, and could we get anyone decent in return", marcus giles sucks ( this season: .248 BA 4HR, 22RBIs, 38Rs, and 7SBs), every year is supposed to be his "breakout" year. the braves should continue rebuilding by trading andruw jones because they can still get a good return on him, unlike chipper "old man" jones. they need to build up from the farm system

You need pitching help in a bad way. Other than Smoltz....you've got no one that even comes close to being descent and your bullpen is just horrid!
You may be able to land Jason Schmidt from the Giants for Giles....

Soriano would be an obvious choice or Brian Roberts, but I think we need pitching. Middle relievers mostly.
